My heart trembles when I listen to the tragedy of Karbala,
It’s the first day of the month, when a mother dresses her children in black, pakeezah (pure) attire, putting away all party outfits and bringing out modest, simple clothing.
I don’t trust the world to still be there,
دشتِ خم میں جلوۂ اسرارِ کبریا دیکھا
خوب واقف ہو، اے دل تری تنہائی سے،
In these nights of Ramadan,
With the echoes of azan e fajr
In the shadows of Karbala, she stood tall,
