Mirza Ghalib

Urdu and Persian poet (1797–1869) of the late Mughal court. His ghazals are foundational to the Urdu canon; his takhallus (pen name) "Ghalib" — "the conqueror" — is itself one of the most-quoted signatures in the tradition.
