Imruʾ al-Qays
Pre-Islamic Arabian poet (c. 501–544 CE). Author of one of the seven Muʿallaqāt — the "suspended odes" — considered the founding works of the qasida form. His opening, calling on companions to stop at the abandoned campsite, fixed the nasib convention for the next 1500 years.
