Farīd ud-Dīn ʿAṭṭār
Persian Sufi poet (c. 1145–1221). His Manṭiq-uṭ-Ṭayr (Conference of the Birds) is one of the great mathnawi works in Persian, sustaining an allegorical narrative in rhymed couplets across some 4500 lines.
