Lament for My Leader

For Sayyed Ali Khamenei (May Allah be pleased with him) Where is the breath of the Messiah now that your last one has been taken? Where too is this hidden Master whom you serve, for whom we await? Every day, forehead against clay, we pray that he may come our way and burn the bearers of that star-stained banner, raising a black one in its place. Our father who descended from the first created light, tell me, when will your father come save us? I grow tired of seeking salvation in men whom I’ve thoughtlessly called daddy, who’ve punished me behind closed doors not for my sins but for the fulfillment of their own. I grow needy for the comfort of knowing, of seeing my saviour right in front of me: the man whose moonlike face will make everything okay again.
